When Life Hits Hard: How to Push Through Survival Mode and Step Into Your Breakthrough

Hey Empowered Besties!

It's been a minute. So let’s be real here. Sometimes life doesn’t just test you. It straight up kicks your ass. I am no exception to that rule and neither are any of you. It's almost as if your drowning, steadily gasping for breath. Deadlines, heartbreaks, health scares, bills, kids, family drama, career chaos......all of it....all at once! Yea. I FREAKING GET IT! All you can think is, this can't be my life right now! Suddenly, you're not thriving....you're just freaking surviving.

If you've ever felt like this, doing anything you can just to stay afloat, then this blog is for you. I’m sharing tips that helped me push through my own survival seasons and shift into a breakthrough. I’m also throwing in some must-have self-care tools that helped me come back to life and feel like myself again.

🚨 Survival Mode: What It Feels Like

For me:
It was waking up already exhausted and unprepared to battle another day. It was being constantly overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, and emotionally numb. I was stuck in what felt like a never ending vicious cycle that I couldn't navigate how the hell I was going to get out of or overcome. I was stuck in a loop of existing but not living. I often wondered, would I feel true joy and happiness again? Will I ever feel like me again. Damn who is this "ME" again? Who am I? How did I pour into every cup until mine was completely empty? How do I fill my own cup and nit feel guilty? Where do I go from here?

🫵🏾For you:
It could look like what I went through or it could look like snapping at your loved ones because your nervous system is fried and failing. You might be going through the motions but not really living through the problems. It may be struggling to prioritize your health, wealth, happiness, finances, and goals.

👂🏾If this sounds familiar, PLEASE give yourself some grace.
I PROMISE you, you're not broken. You're not a bad person. You aren't wrong in the ways that you are struggling because there is no correct way to struggle. You're just burned out. You're overloaded, and in desperate need of support. This is where I come in, because no one should struggle alone. Let me give you some ideas to a few small but mighty things that helped me.

Breakthrough Tips

How to Shift Your Energy & Focus!

Get brutally honest about what’s draining you. Stop pretending you're okay. IT'S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY!!!! Let me say that again for those of you who clearly didn't hear me. IT'S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY. Never let anyone tell you any different. Think about your struggles. What’s no longer serving you? Be bold enough to release it. It'll consume you if keep carrying that weight around.

Make rest a non-negotiable. Sleep isn’t lazy, it's necessary. It’s medicine for the mind, body, and soul. Start treating it like a prescription. Treat it as if your life depends on it, because it kind of does. Nap if you need to or go to bed early. Rest is how you reset your nervous system. REST TO RESET and see how rejuvenated you actually feel.

Move your body, even if it's just for a few minutes a day. Walk, stretch, dance, sweat. A little as 30 minutes per day can clear the mental fog. If you really want to thrive in your healing, add in some sunshine. Go for a solo hike, take a beginner dance class, try a free fitness class, go to the park, or check out a u-pick flower patch and reward yourself. Just get off your ass and get out there! You CAN do this!

Journal it out! Don't give me that yeah yeah yeah look and brush this off. Let me be the 1st to tell you, journaling actually works. Do you know why? It works because not only are you getting those unspeakable emotions out of your system, you have a record of where you started and how far you've come. It won't seem like something of power and accomplishment now but trust me, when you heal, it will. Get those heavy thoughts out of your head and onto paper. You don’t need perfect grammar or to write a novel, but you do need release. Sit down with your thoughts, and hell maybe even a glass of wine if you need it, and just start writing!

Rebuild routines with tiny wins. Forget the big goals for now. Drink a full glass of water instead of a gallon. Go for a 3 mile walk instead of a 10 mile run. Baby steps help us achieve larger goals by rewarding us with those smaller wins along the way. This isn't saying the big goals don't matter. This says that we deserve to celebrate where we are in the moment overcoming those small wins along the way to our larger path of success.

Lean on your support system. The world doesn't contain billions of people just for you to be alone. Call your family. Text your bestie. Talk with your significant other. Book a mindset reset session with me. The 1st step is simply asking for help. I can assure you that everybody at some point in their life has had to ask for help. You aren't the only one. However, you will be the only one not overcoming your hurdles if you don't. Don't be that person!

Last but not least, Practice Self-Care! One of the things I love after a hard day, rather it drained me mentally, physically, or emotionally is soaking in the tub with my Bath Caddy Bestie! This bamboo bath tray has been a game changer to help me relax. I can prop up my tablet and watch a show or read my favorite book while my muscles and joints get a chance to ease and unwind from the tension of the day. It hold my snacks, usually fruit, and a glass of wine to really give the relaxation vibe. I also love that there's a space for a candle so if I just want to listen to music in peace, in a warm, tranquil space, I can set that mood for myself. You don't need a spa to unwind. You just need creativity!

Remember you weren’t born to live in survival mode.
You were made for joy, peace, and purpose. But first you’ve got to give yourself permission to pause, breathe, and rebuild.

Your breakthrough isn’t coming. It’s already in motion.
You’re just in the middle of the shift!
